If you have been following our YouTube recently – you will know that we recently recorded a “Northernettes” take on the classic “Money – That’s What I Want” (originally by Barrett Strong) up in sunny Rhyl, North Wales.
In true Northernette style – we couldn’t film just anywhere. Of course it had to be in the most mystical colourful caravan of all time. Thankfully Katie actually owns one. She runs her online store “Vintage Hearts” from this magical dream of a place and it was just perfect to film and take photos in.
The day started off with an early drive (thanks to Sophie May’s mum for being our chauffeur!) as Georgia and Sophie May made their way to sunny Wales armed with bags of vintage clothes and of course Georgia’s flask of coffee. Several stops for hash browns and of course a bit of “in car DJ’ing” from Sophie May and we were nearing Rhyl! This is where the fun started – we lost signal and all contact with civilisation as we drove past fields and sheep.
We got to Katie’s caravan and started to get hair and makeup done as well as choose what on earth we were going to wear. Being prepped for an impromptu photo shoot is always easy because Katie and Georgia both have their own online vintage stores – BUT deciding what to actually put on is another matter entirely.
Vintage fashion and music come hand in hand for us and it’s really important to express ourselves through our music and what we wear. With us all having different styles, we find that naturally we know what each other will like to wear and there never seems to be any clashes!
Katie wore a vintage lime green 60s paisley jumpsuit (sourced from her store) paired with 60s black boots. Georgia wore a vintage 60s polo neck and blue prom skirt (sourced from her store) with iron fist heels (a birthday present from Katie!) and socks. Sophie May wore a bohemian high neck autumnal print dress (sourced from a vintage boutique on ASOS marketplace) and red leather boots (sourced from Katie’s store.)
